Abril Educação Receives Capital from BR Investimentos
16 August 2010
(Abril) August 16, 2010 – Abril Educação announced a capital infusion of R$226m (approximately US$128m) from funds BR Educacional FIP and FIP Brasil de Governança Corporativa, both managed by BR Investimentos. Last month, the company had announced the acquisition of Anglo, one of the traditional education systems in the country.
The investment represents a minority stake in the company, controlled by the Civita family, which brings together the brands Attica and Scipione, leaders in the textbooks and the education system SER. The participation of a private equity focused on education, besides strengthening the company’s capital, will enable Abril Educação to jump even higher toward market leadership.
