(Union Capital Group) August 29, 2011 – Union Capital Group (“UCG”) entered into a binding purchase agreement to acquire Plane Tree Capital LLP (“Plane Tree”), a London-based investment management firm focused on the energy sector in Latin America. Plane Tree’s activities will be combined with UCG’s private equity business to form UCG Investments (“UCGI”), a new investment management unit operating from London and Montevideo, and managing over US$750 million invested in real assets in Latin America.

Juan Sartori, Chairman of UCG, remarked: “We invest alongside our investors in businesses underpinned by ownership of real, tangible assets. Latin America’s fast-growing energy demand and abundant natural resources offer compelling investment opportunities in the conventional and alternative energy spaces – both strategic growth areas for UCG. By acquiring Plane Tree Capital, we are able to integrate a team with the skills and experience required to execute our strategy in these sectors and at the same time increase our institutional presence in London with the addition of a new office.

Completion of the transaction remains subject to a number of customary closing conditions, including regulatory approval.
