TPG Capital’s Matrix Renewables Acquires 154MW Solar Portfolio for Undisclosed Amount
26 January 2021
TPG Capital’s Madrid-based renewable energy platform Matrix Renewables has acquired 154MW solar portfolio in Chile from Verano Capital for an undisclosed amount.
(Renewables Now) Madrid-based platform Matrix Renewables, created by asset manager TPG, will add 154 MWp of solar farms to its Chilean portfolio in a newly agreed acquisition from developer Verano Capital.
The company said on Monday it will purchase 25 solar farms with capacities ranging from 3 MWp to 9 MWp. These plants are part of the country’s PMGD programme for small distributed generation projects.
Located in four different regions of the South American country — Region IV, V, VI and Metropolitan — the solar portfolio consists of parks that are already operational, under construction or set to break ground in the coming months.
Together, these solar facilities should be able to produce enough power to meet the energy demands of 44,000 local families and help avoid the emission of 120,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) per year.
With this acquisition, Matrix Renewables now controls more than 330 MWp of PMGD solar assets in several stages of development. In all, the company has 1.2 GW in its existing portfolio, it noted.
