Nexxus Capital Announces the Formation of the Portfolio Operations Team

(Press Release) Nexxus Capital announced the creation of The Portfolio Operations, which has been formed to work alongside with the management teams of portfolio companies. Portfolio Operations is a new group within Nexxus Capital that results from a strategic change in philosophy to enhance the value creation process of its portfolio companies.

The initiative tends to drive key value creation and performance initiatives, further strengthening Nexxus Capital’s strategy of investing in mid-sized companies with high-growth potential whose value can be enhanced through improved management and operations, value-added acquisitions and application of world class, state of the art business models.

René Fernández Gaytán has joined Nexxus Capital as Managing Director and Head of Portfolio Operations bringing 25 years of experience in strategy consulting and private equity. Before joining Nexxus Capital, René was a partner at strategy consulting firm McKinsey & Co, then René led Heidrick & Struggles’ organizational consulting division in Latin America. Afterwards, he became leading Partner at Bain & Company’s Private Equity, Financial Services, and Retail practices in Mexico, and finally co-founded Newgrowth Fund, a VC vehicle in 2010.

Nexxus Capital has actively contributed to the private equity industry in Mexico since its inception in 1995 and is the largest private equity firm in the country. It has one of the longest and most successful track records in private equity in Latin America focused on enhancing the value of its portfolio companies. Nexxus Capital has completed 19 investments through five funds, has fully divested from 11 portfolio companies, and is the only Mexican private equity manager that has listed five portfolio companies in the public markets.

Nexxus Capital has over US$500 million available through its fund Nexxus Capital VI, and is currently analyzing investment opportunities for growth equity in mid-sized Mexican companies. Nexxus VI’s preferred sectors are retail, financial services, consumer products, business services, logistics, health and education.
