16 November 2010
(Dow Jones) November 16, 2010 – Intel Corp.’s (INTC) venture arm has provided $77 million in first-time investments to 18 companies from around the world.
As usual, Intel Capital is focused on spurring innovation in the personal-computer and server markets that rely so heavily on Intel processors–this time in cloud computing, mobility and broadband wireless. The new investments should also advance the development of smart phones, tablets and smart TV, Intel said.
From Latin America, new investment included Boo- box, located in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Boo-box is a software-based ad system for social media. Financial details were not disclosed, but the company plans to use the funds to accelerate development of its tools and strengthen business operations. According to the company, the network includes 13,000 registered publishers.
