IDB Lab Invests an Undisclosed Amount in DILA Capital’s DILA IV Fund

3 July 2020

IDB Lab announced an undisclosed investment in DILA Capital’s DILA IV Fund. The fund aims to invest in 21 to 25 companies across Latin America, including less developed VC markets such as Central America, Ecuador, Bolivia, and Paraguay.

(Press Release) DILA Capital has been investing in the Latin America region since its last fund, DILA III, and plans to continue doing so with an explicit regional focus through DILA IV. The Fund aims to invest in 21 to 25 innovative tech startups in late-seed/series A/series B stages, who have the potential to create scalable impact across Latin America in the following sectors: financial services, health, education, logistics/mobility, and solutions for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), among others. DILA Capital will be tapping into the startup ecosystems in Mexico and Latin America, including less developed VC markets, such as Central America, Ecuador, Bolivia, and Paraguay.

Through this investment, IDB Lab aims to promote a greater regional integration of VC and startup ecosystems across Latin America. It expects to achieve this through two ways: via transfer of knowledge and best practices from more developed VC ecosystems (i.e. Mexico) and via greater access to finance for entrepreneurial talents in less developed VC ecosystems. In addition, IDB Lab expects the fund to foment relevant innovations for post-COVID19 economic recovery and mitigation.

Founded in 2013 by two entrepreneurs, DILA Capital is one of the leading regional VC firms based in Mexico City. DILA has to date invested in 42 early stages companies in Latin America, including Ben and Frank, Bewe, Crehana, iVoy, Kushki, Reservamos, Urbvan among others.
