CVCI Portfolio Company Obtains $100M in Peruvian Initial Public Offering

(Gestion & CVCI) November 4, 2010 – Exalmar, a Peruvian fishing company, earned US$100M in an initial public offering of new shares in the Lima Stock issued Exchange (BVL).
The capital will be used to strengthen its operations in Peru’s fishmeal and fish oil industry.
The offering attracted shareholders such as institutional investors, pension fund managers, mutual funds and both local and foreign investors.
Exalmar is one of the principal fishmeal and fish oil exporting companies in Peru. According to the website of Citi Venture Capital International (CVCI), the private equity fund originally invested in the company in 2007.
The Peruvian stock market has become one of the main mechanisms that local businesses use for funding.
