Conduit Capital Announces Initiation of Construction Project in Mexico

1 August 2012

(Conduit Capital Partners) August 1, 2012 – Conduit Capital Partners LLC, a private equity investment firm focused on energy infrastructure investment and development in Latin America and the Caribbean, today announced the initiation of construction of a 22 megawatt Wind Project at Santa Catarina (“Eolica Santa Catarina”) in northern Mexico.

Once completed, Santa Catarina will sell energy under long-term power purchase agreements with municipalities around the city of Monterrey.

Marc Frishman, Managing Partner of Conduit, said: “After so many successful power investments in the region, we are thrilled to be working on our first wind project. We believe this technology will be vital for meeting Mexico’s future power needs at reasonable costs. Our project partners and the wind turbine generator suppliers, GE, have worked closely with us to optimize the wind resource and we look forward to building a plant that will lead the way in expanding access to creative energy solutions.”

Eolica Santa Catarina is located in the Santa Catarina municipality, outside of Monterrey, Mexico. Conduit acquired the Santa Catarina project through the firm’s Latin Power III Fund, along with long-term partner Comexhidro SA de CV of Mexico, in late 2010. Asergen SC, an affiliated company of Comexhidro, is also managing the project.

Conduit has extensive experience in Mexico, having invested since 2000 in the Trojes, Chilatan, and El Gallo small hydroelectric projects totaling 52 MWs, and Libramiento, a 65 km natural gas pipeline. Together with Comexhidro, Conduit is currently an investor in two small hydroelectric projects in construction totaling 45 MWs in Southern Mexico.
