Alta Growth Capital Completes the Acquisition of Fruehauf de Mexico

26 August 2015

(Press Release) Alta Growth Capital (“AGC”) announced that it has completed the acquisition of Fruehauf de Mexico, the leading manufacturer of semi-trailers for industrial and commercial use in Mexico. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. “We are excited to acquire such an iconic brand in the semi-trailer industry,” said Scott McDonough, Managing Director at AGC. “We believe Fruehauf is well-positioned to benefit from growing transportation needs in Mexico as the country’s middle class continues to expand.”

Javier Garcia-Teruel, Managing Director at AGC, commented, “Fruehauf is recognized as the quality and service leader in semi-trailers and has had a solid performance. Its potential for future growth made the company attractive, as well.”

Fruehauf Trailer Corporation was originally established in the U.S. and began operations in Mexico in 1955. In 1967, Fruehauf International Corporation opened a manufacturing facility in Mexico City, Fruehauf de Mexico, to attend Mexican clients directly and export to the United States. The plant in Mexico is the only operation under the Fruehauf brand remaining in North America. Fruehauf has an extensive line of semi-trailer products and its advanced engineering and manufacturing capabilities provide customized product solutions at a high level of quality for a variety of customers in the transportation industry.

Equity capital for the transaction was provided by Alta Growth Capital, Mexico Fund II.
