BTG Pactual Purchases Coomex

(DealWatch) August 18, 2010 – For R$100M, BTG Pactual has wound up the purchase of independent electric power broker Coomex, a sum to be paid over time. The deal is made via a filial of BTG, and the current partners of Coomex, that has a R$700mil turnover would remain as managers with the goal to expand the company that negotiates 700 Mw per month, 35% of it generated from renewable energy sources – sugarcane bagasse. BTG has presence in the energy business via Brasil Energia, a private equity fund that has most of its resources from pension funds. In 2009 this fund has injected R$300mil in Ersa, the renewable energy company from Patria Investimentos. Coomex has also a 30 Mw wind power project to be erected and contracted to sell at R4152 per Mw/hour.
