(SeeNews Renewables) Spanish firm Acciona announced a deal with Energias Renovaveis and private equity firm Actis to supply turbines for a 195-MW wind complex in the northeastern Brazilian state of State of Piaui.

The deal was awarded by c and British private equity firm Actis to Acciona’s subsidiary Acciona Windpower. Financial details were not provided.

More specifically, the Spanish engineering group will deliver 65 units of its AW125/3000 machines that will be installed at eight wind farms. The Lagoa do Barro I-VII and Queimada Nova schemes were developed through a joint venture between Atlantic and Actis. The plants’ future output will be sold under a contract awarded in Brazil’s A-5 energy auction from 2014.

Acciona expects to start supplying the equipment in 2017, while the wind farms are seen to be commissioned in the second quarter of 2018. The nacelles for the turbines will be assembled at Acciona’s factory in Bahia state, with blades and other components to be sourced locally. Following completion, Acciona will operate and maintain the turbines for 15 years.

The latest deal brings Acciona Windpower’s sold AW3000 wind turbine capacity to 1,020 MW since 2012, the company noted.
