What we do

LAVCA’s activities support the growth of local venture capital and private equity industries throughout Latin America and the Caribbean and promote knowledge of the region among international investors.

Conducting Research

LAVCA’s Annual Scorecard on the Private Equity and Venture Capital Environment provides investors with an important resource on the region’s different markets and major policy developments. The Scorecard, produced in partnership with the Economist Intelligence Unit, is also a useful reference for governments and public agencies in the design of reforms related to private investment.
Other areas of research include corporate governance, pension funds and analysis of targeted industries.

Promoting Professional Standards

LAVCA collaborates with industry experts, development organizations, financial institutions and other associations to develop model documents, industry guidelines and standards. The association also actively supports training and professional development for fund managers in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Networking and News

LAVCA’s Annual Summit provides an important networking forum for venture capital and private equity professionals across Latin America and the Caribbean. Each year, LAVCA convenes senior managers from leading investment funds, international public and private sector investors and high-level government officials to address the operating and policy environment in the region's venture capital and private equity markets.

In addition to the Annual Summit, LAVCA engages international institutional investors via an annual LP/GP Roundtable and partners with local organizations in Latin America to facilitate networking and education among industry professionals.

The association's monthly e-newsletter – The LAVCA Reporter – is an important source for industry news for over 2,000 subscribers.

Coordinating within Latin America and the Caribbean:
The VC/PE Association Working Group

LAVCA is committed to coordinating with local venture capital associations to foster development and competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises in Latin America and the Caribbean. This commitment is in line with the goals of a project grant awarded to LAVCA in 2007 by the Multilateral Investment Fund (MIF) and Corporación Andina de Fomento (CAF).
This three-year coordination project entails annual meetings of the VC/PE Association Working Group. The inaugural meeting of the Working Group in March 2007 provided a needed opportunity for organizations to meet, compare notes and calendars, and identify opportunities for partnership and collaboration. Participants identified a number of initiatives to foster increased collaboration, including maintenance of a comprehensive trade association calendar and a working group directory.
