Sergio Hernandez Joins J.E. Robert Companies as First Director of Mexico Office

May 14, 2008, McLean, VA — Sergio Hernandez has been hired as the first Mexico-based Director of the J.E. Robert Companies (JER), the company announced today. An experienced manager of both asset-based financing and human capital, Mr. Hernandez will be responsible for heading up the growing Mexico City office and building an operating platform to place equity investment in real estate ventures in Mexico and Central America.
“Sergio has proven he can manage and grow a full range of commercial finance products from asset-based to structured finance, and beyond,” said Michael Pralle, President and COO of JER. “His absolute leadership in the Mexican asset-based finance industry makes him the perfect choice to lead our new Mexico City office and expand our strong capabilities in the region.”
Previously Senior Vice President and National Sales Director of GE Capital Solutions Mexico, Mr. Hernandez has spent the last 10 years developing GE’s commercial finance platform in Mexico. In his most recent position at GE, Mr. Hernandez and his team originated over $1.2 billion per year in asset-based financing transactions and oversaw a team of 70 sales professionals. Over his ten-year career at GE, Mr. Hernandez was involved in the management of more than $3.2 billion in assets and executed over $2.8 billion in deals with corporate and middle-market companies in a variety of sectors.
Prior to GE, Mr. Hernandez served as Assistant to the Vice President of Global Transaction Services at Citibank Global Corporate Banking in New York. Mr. Hernandez
began his career at Procter & Gamble Co. in Mexico City, where he quickly rose to the level of Engineering Manager before seeking his MBA.
Mr. Hernandez graduated with honors with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from UAM in Mexico City (1991) and received an MBA in Finance from Tulane University in New Orleans, LA.
Mr. Hernandez will be based in Mexico City and will report to Marcelo Horcel, JER’s Managing Director of Latin American Investments.
